AMD Launches Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards: RX 6900XT, RX 6800XT, RX 6800

Just a month ago, AMD’s rival, Nvidia, has updated its portfolio with new graphics cards under its RTX lineup, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 series. Now, AMD reveals its Radeon 6000 series graphics cards.
Early this month when AMD unveiled its latest Ryzen lineup, they also took to stage a sneak peek of the performance of their upcoming Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards. On a benchmark run of Borderlands 3, the unidentified RX 6000 series graphics card was able to go neck to neck with the Nvidia RTX 3080 on 4K resolution.

Fast forward to today, AMD reveals that the card in that sneak-peek was none other than the Radeon RX 6800 XT. The new enthusiast-centric and banner holder of the RDNA2 architecture, the Radeon RX 6800 XT, will have 72 Compute Units and 72 Ray Accelerators that can boost up to 2015Mhz. It will also come equipped with 16GB of GDDR6 memory that is accompanied by a 128MB of AMD’s new technology, the Infinity Cache. According to AMD, the Radeon RX 6000 series lineup is 30% more energy efficient than the previous generation, allowing the Radeon RX 6800 XT to have a total board power of only 300 Watts while delivering a 54% uplift in performance-per-watt against its predecessor.

Along with the Infinity Cache, which is an on-die cache that is set to improve latency and lower power consumption, imbued in each RX 6000 series graphics cards, AMD also unveiled new technologies and features that will improve the performance of these new graphics cards. 
There’s AMD Smart Access Memory, an exclusive feature to AMD 5000 series based systems, which will allow the CPU to have greater access to the high-speed GDDR6 graphics memory that is said to deliver 13% performance increase when combined with the new one-click overclocking feature, Rage Mode.

And according to AMD, the Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards will also support DirectX Raytracing (DXR), Variable Rate Shading, and Microsoft Direct Storage. All these features and technologies will bring true to life and high-fidelity visuals along with an elevated gaming experience to the Radeon RX 6800 XT, Radeon RX 6800, and the Radeon RX 6900 XT.
If there won’t be any supply issue, the Radeon RX 6800 XT  and Radeon RX 6800 will be available on November 18, 2020, and will have a $649 USD and $579 USD price tags, respectively. While the Radeon RX 6900 XT that will have a $999 USD price tag will be available on December 8, 2020.
