There are many children growing up in difficult and challenging environments all across the world. Transcend Information Inc., a leading manufacturer of storage and multimedia products, recently partnered with Metro World Child, a global humanitarian organization reaching close to 100,000 children and their families on a weekly basis, to sponsor underprivileged children to participate in the 5K run of Davao International Marathon 2019 – Powered by Taiwan Excellence on March 10, 2019 at People’s Park, Davao City.

This sponsorship represents the consecutive social responsibility efforts that Transcend is actively working to implement as part of its ongoing commitment to positive change and community involvement under the ‘Transcend Care Program’ initiative. In addition to the waived registration fee and marathon race kit, the collaboration with Metro World Child also saw Transcend furnishing the sponsored participants with Transcend premiums, a post-run Jolibee food party and a special award presentation on the Taiwan Excellence stage area.

The participating children, in turn, expressed their gratitude with handwritten thank you notes at the end of the event. Some of the messages include: “Thank you for sponsoring us to join this wonderful event – Alfonso”, “I wanna say thank you for giving us a big opportunity to attend this marathon. – Diva”, “We are so blessed. – Jannah”, and “It’s my first time to join a marathon so thank you so much for sponsoring us. – Jasten”.

“The Transcend Care Program was conceived to support the society and improve the well-being of people in need by way of partnership with community-based organizations, such as Metro World Child,” said Jimmy Chiang, Country Manager of Transcend Philippines. “Knowing that what we are doing is bringing joy and happiness to the kids has been a reward in itself,” added Jimmy Chiang about the heartfelt thank you messages from the children.

During the event, Transcend Philippines also provided the DrivePro Body 30 camera – a feature-packed body camera with a Sony image sensor, six-axis image stabilization, 12-hour battery life, IP67-rated environmental sealing, and military-grade shock resistance – for running enthusiast and influencer Zha Buenaflor Malana to document her Davao International Marathon 2019 experience.
