Review: Transcend StoreJet 25CK3

An on the go person will really love to have an External Hard Drive in his/her arsenal, but some External Hard Drives are pricey. However, if there are extra HDD or SSD lying around your home or office, a SATA Enclosure could be the solution that you need to get those working.

In this review, will be taking a look at Transcend’s StoreJet 25CK3. It is a an all-in-one upgrade kit that includes a 2.5″ enclosure that complies with the USB 3.0 protocol, mounting screws, a screw driver, and some other stuff that you need to make a functional External HDD/SSD. And it comes with a couple of free softwares  that will make  data management and recovery easy.

Packaging:

Transcends signature packaging will be seen on the StoreJet 25CK3’s box, which we’ll also be seeing on the box of other Transcend StoreJet portable hard drives that are out in the market. It carries the signature red and white color of Transcend. The box itself is sturdy and well built, that we think can withstand a drop from a reasonable height. The front of the box has an opening which shows the Enclosure itself, while on the right side are graphics that describe the contents of the box, and on the left is a picture of the side of the StoreJet 25CK3 Enclosure. Additional information like specifications, package contents, compatibility, and short descriptions are seen at the back of the box.

What’s inside:

We could all agree that opening boxes of gadgets and other tech stuff is the most uplifting and satifying moment, is it not? So, box opened. The 2.5″ Enclosure and other contents are inside a transparent plastic case. The two piece transparent plastic case holds the 2.5″ Enclosure, PH1 Screwdriver, three Mounting Screws(M2), USB Cable, 7mm to 9.5mm Spacer, the Quick Start Guide, Warranty Card, and a couple of Transcend product brochures.

Starting up:

Well we can also agree on this one, every time we don’t know how to use something, we seek for a how-to guide on the internet or in this case, the Quick Start Guide. However, even without the Quick Start Guide one can surely make the StoreJet 25CK3 work. Since everything that’s needed are included in the package, we’ll only need one last thing to make it work – a 2.5″ HDD or SSD.

Assembling is pretty straight forward, just take off the silicone shell of the Enclosure, then just open it up, and don’t worry no screws are preattached on the Enclosure. Once the Enclosure is opened, another silicone shell will be seen. This Silicone Shell will house the storage device that you will use, and it will also serve as an added protection against unintended drops or bumps. The 7mm – 9.5mm spacer will be placed on top of the storage device, however, if the storage device is 9.5mm thick, you’ll just have to skip this step.

Once the storage device is mounted in place, you’ll just have to put the top shell of the Enclosure. Just align it with the bottom shell and sandwich the silicone shell that holds the storage device. Once you’ve secured the top shell, the silicone shell and the bottom shell in place, you’ll just have to screw it down tightly. The screws and screwdriver are provided, so no worries with anything now.

Conclusion:
