Yes, you’ve read that right. Xiaomi has introduced its first smartphone that will run on Android Go, the Xiaomi Redmi Go.

The Redmi Go runs an Android Go version of the Android 8.1 Oreo. The Android Go, which was introduced by Google in 2017, is a resource efficient Android version meant for affordable smartphones. It features Google apps that have scaled down resource consumption.

Aside from its very efficient OS, the Redmi Go also features a 3000mAh battery that powers a SnapDragon 425 SoC and a 5.0-inch HD display. Snapping photos and selfies are handled by its 8MP rear camera and 5MP front facing camera. And just like any smartphones out there, the Redmi Go’s storage capacity can be expanded up to 128GB through its microSD slot.

With all the features and hardware, the Redmi Go will come with an 8GB internal storage and will come in black or blue. Pre-orders on Lazada starts on January 31, 2019, and it will carry a PHP 3,990 price tag. Additionally, the first 200 customers to pre-order will get a free pair of earphones.

The Redmi Go will be available at authorized Mi stores starting on February 4, 2019.
