October 18, 2024gamescom asia 2024 has begun and is in fully underway with Day 1 done and dusted, it was time for Day 2, and here are some highlights. It included the Pitch Competition, a limited preview to some games, and a B2B afterparty to close out the day.

Opening Speech by Ministry of State; Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth; and Ministry of Trade and Industry Alvin Tan
Minister of State, Minister of Culture, Culture, Community and Youth and Minister of Trade and Industry Alvin Tan spoke to the growing presence of the gaming and esports industries in Singapore along with the nation’s standing in the wider Asia region.
He thanked local and global partners for choosing Singapore as the platform to showcase creativity and innovation to the world.
Indie Developers Shine in Pitch Competition, Highlighting Southeast Asia’s Creative Talent
gamescom asia’s The Pitch Competition attracted 55 entries from indie developers across the globe. The final 13 competitors hailed from various countries worldwide with 8 developers form Southeast Asia. These finalists presented their games to an esteemed panel of industry judges.
The winners were announced today with Battlebrew Production’s Love in Tiny Spaces receiving the Best Pitch, Ammobox Studio’s Project Guardian (working title) for Best Game Design, and Bit Egg Inc’s Lost and Found Co. for Most Anticipated Game.
Prizes range from cash to playtesting vouchers to support ongoing development efforts.
The Entertainment Area of gamescom asia 2024 Opens with a Limited Preview
Eager gamers with VIP passes were also able to get a sneak peek into the entertainment area of gamescom asia. At the area, brands like CAPCOM, PlayStation, and 4Divinity showcased their latest and hottest games.
Within minutes, there were queues to play pre-release games like Monster Hunter Wilds, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and over 60 indie games.
The area opens to the public on 19 October.
Talk – Weaving Local Cultures into Today’s Games
Highlighting the importance of representing regional developer, Wan Hazmer of Metronomik spotlighted the unique power of integrating local cultures into game design during his talk.
Additionally, he spoke about how this can create longevity for the identity of indie developers and gaming studios.
B2B Afterparty Wraps up the Business Area with a Celebratory Flourish
Marking the end of the B2B component of gamescom asia 2024, the B2B afterparty saw conference attendees raise a glass to another prosperous year for the games industry in Asia.
The party presented one last chance for conference delegates, VIPs, speakers, media, and Full Access Exhibitors to network before gamescom asia 2025.
